PGMI UIN Malang – Approaching the 7th semester, all students of the PGMI program, especially the 2020 batch, are required to participate in the ‘Scouting Guiding System’ activity organized by the PGMI department in collaboration with the UIN Malang Scouting. The purpose of this activity is to create PGMI students as competent educators in Scouting. The activity will take place for one month, right before regular lectures resume. On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, the opening ceremony was held to equip all 2020 batch PGMI students with information about the activities and requirements they should follow. The opening ceremony took place in the Microteaching Hall from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.”
Unlike the previous day, on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, all PGMI students from Class C participated in a series of scouting activities that were pre-determined. The scouting activities were held in Room 203 of Building A. All students were required to participate in these activities without exception. Additionally, all students were mandated to wear complete scouting attire.
On this day, all students were scheduled to take a pre-test to assess their knowledge and understanding of scouting. The pre-test covered topics related to the four classifications and levels within the scouting movement, as defined in the AD&ART based on Law No. 12 of 2010. The pre-test lasted for one hour, starting from 08:00 AM to 09:00 AM. The aim was to gauge the extent of the PGMI students’ comprehension of scouting.
In addition to the pre-test, another activity conducted was an initial introduction to the assigned senior mentors who would accompany Class C in their scouting activities for the next month. On this day, Class C’s scouting activities were accompanied by a lovely senior mentor named Kak Nay. She is an active graduate student pursuing a Master’s degree in Islamic Family Law at UIN Malang, who also has experience in teaching and mentoring younger students in scouting activities.
